Water sports on the Costa Blanca

The beauty of the coastline and the warm Mediterranean climate allow visitors to enjoy water sports all year round. To date, the Costa Blanca includes 25 yacht clubs and marinas with more than 10,000 berths, providing high quality facilities for many water sports while protecting the environment and the seabed.

Diving

The Mediterranean Sea allows visitors to enjoy its waters both on the surface and on the seabed. Some of these areas are protected, such as the Tabarca Marine Reserve and Cape San Antonio Nature Reserve, located between Denia and Javea. The Alicante area is also an interesting dive site. In addition to colourful underwater landscapes, advanced divers may also admire the beautiful caves. The rich marine flora and fauna, and the warm and clear water of Spain (the visibility under water reaches about 20 - 30 metres) provide excellent conditions for this sport.

Sailing

Sailing is one of the most popular water sports in the Costa Blanca. With gentle winds, a large number of sailing schools and a varied coastline, many tourists decide to take up sailing here. The port of Torrevieja serves as a commercial point and as a ferry slip. It is one of the largest ports in the Costa Blanca and in the entire Mediterranean. Hundreds of yachts and private and rented boats with organised tours, sail out of the coastline every day. Spending time at sea will definitely be a great attraction during your holiday.

It should also be mentioned that there are many yacht races and other sports competitions taking place on the coast. Most importantly, there is the Volvo Ocean Race in Alicante, which takes place every three years and has led to the development of a wide range of activities and facilities associated with this competition.
